The Urban Environment Administration has a comprehensive responsibility for the city's public spaces and overall accessibility.

We work to create accessible, attractive, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas. The administration owns and manages the tram network in Gothenburg. Approximately 900 people work within the administration.

The Urban Environment Administration is part of the urban development administrations in Gothenburg City. Together, we work to create conditions for a functioning infrastructure, quality housing and premises, an inviting public environment, and strive for the city to be sustainable from all perspectives.

Job Responsibilities

The Department of Construction and Infrastructure manages the city's public spaces and facilities with good stewardship of available resources. The department has overall responsibility for structures, lighting, streets, and tracks. The department is also responsible for various traffic regulations and the start permit process, which includes reviewing traffic arrangement plans, granting start permits, establishing land agreements, and approving utility locations. The department's mission is to continuously ensure that the urban environment is attractive for travel, recreation, and work.

We are now looking for summer workers for several of our units in the department. Two for the unit of structures and lighting (with its mission in lighting) and three for the unit of traffic regulation.

The Structures and Lighting unit works to manage structures, lighting, and traffic signals regarding the Urban Environment Administration's facilities. As a summer worker with us, you will primarily inventory the lighting at bus and tram stops and record the results in City Works.

In the Traffic Regulation unit, you will primarily inventory and document various items in the street environment. This can include everything from bike racks, road markings to benches.

All assignments require you to drive around in a car, but some inventorying can be done by bicycle. Other tasks may also arise within all roles.

The employment runs from June 15 to August 21 with two weeks of leave during the same period as the supervisor's vacation. The employment period can be flexible within this period for the Lighting unit. In Traffic Regulation, the employment is for 3 weeks from June 15 to July 3.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone studying a technical program at a college/university or similar. You should be a student in an ongoing program or have completed your degree by spring 2026.

We want you to be a person who can take initiative and has the ability to collaborate. You can work in a structured manner and are meticulous.

The position requires you to be able to read and interpret maps/drawings and know how to document the results of the inventory properly. It is an advantage if you have knowledge of GIS or CAD (ArcGIS).

A valid driver's license (B) is required for the position.
